Power Yoga from Philly Power Yoga

If you are into yoga, chances are you’ve attended yoga classes and you know that there are different kinds of yoga, including Bikram and Ashtanga among others. Philly Power Yoga has developed a kind of yoga based on the two aforementioned kinds and aims to counter the negative effects brought about by a fast-paced lifestyle where the concept of relaxation is a tad unfamiliar. The helpful staff will help you to accept your unhealthy lifestyle and use that as your guide to becoming a better person with the help of yoga.

I decided to try it out and I was pleasantly surprised that they have a lot of promos that would fit my needs and my budget, such as the availability of gift coupons and discounts. I signed up for just one class first although the 5 sessions coupon priced at more than half its actual price was really tempting. The front desk was accommodating and they had me sign a waiver before leaving our shoes. Also, they asked if I suffer from any injury or limitations, which, I later found out, was to alert instructors to assist those who do and make necessary adjustments to their positions.

Fortunately, I brought my own towel, mat, and drinking water as I found out that they do not provide the mats and towels for us to use which I could guess was mostly for hygienic reasons. I caught a glimpse of the studio where we would hold our session and was glad to see that it was very roomy and enough for everyone to move without thinking of accidentally hitting someone in the face.

As we assembled before entering the studio, I noticed that the class consisted of only women. We went inside the studio in absolute silence and selected our own spots. I unrolled my mat and placed it on the floor and decided to warm up by stretching and doing some meditation since there was still time before the class started and I noticed that about everyone was doing just that.

Contrary to my initial expectations of a yoga class consisting of mostly breathing and stretching, the power yoga session I had was a lot different and I was sweating heavily at the end of it. I felt like I had an intense cardio workout. Don’t get me wrong, the difference and the sweat was a very welcome change because I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. Unlike other yoga sessions wherein we were told to relax and forget our anxieties, here the instructor told us to think about our lives and our experiences, whether good or bad, and channel that into yoga. The positions they had us do really felt like it was improving my level of fitness. The instructor also said that should we suddenly feel unwell, it is recommended to just lie down on the mat and stay in the room. According to the instructor, with regular practice, good positions, and appropriate breathing, we would feel improvement in ourselves. I believe it because I felt a lot better not just physically but also emotionally and mentally after just one session.

It also seems that Philly Power Yoga will offer other services since they recently opened a full-service facility that includes not just the power yoga classes but also other varieties of yoga and Pilates. I also found out that they have added massage and acupuncture services and I would love to try it sometime. After being in the business for 10 years, I can see why it is still growing. I would definitely be coming back to fulfill my health and wellness-related essentials. I think that 5 sessions coupon will not be enough for me.
